Phase I/II Recurrent Malignant Glioma Trial - Canada

In June 2006, Oncolytics collaborators delivered final results of a Canadian Phase I clinical trial examining the use of REOLYSIN® in recurrent malignant glioma, at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Annual Meeting in Atlanta, Georgia. A total of twelve patients were treated in the study at dosages of 1x107, 1x108, and 1x109 TCID50. A maximum tolerated dose was not reached over this dosage range and REOLYSIN® appears to have been well tolerated by the patients. Three patients lived longer than one year, and at the time of the ASCO presentation, one patient was still alive approximately 45 months post treatment. Oncolytics expects to continue to investigate the use of REOLYSIN® as a monotherapy in its Phase I/II malignant glioma clinical trial in the U.S., while Phase II studies in glioma will focus on REOLYSIN® in combination with chemotherapeutics and radiation therapy. Determination of the safety of REOLYSIN® was the primary purpose of this Canadian Phase I study.
