How has one of the most common cancers had such little innovation?

October marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Our CEO, Matt Coffey, Ph.D., shares his thoughts on why we need to raise awareness of one of the most common cancers, which affects approximately 1 in 8 women in the United States alone. In reflecting on his own mother’s battle with breast cancer, he brings attention to the need for more innovative treatment options—especially given that standard-of-care for the disease hasn’t changed in decades. He also comments on the emerging medicines being developed to treat breast cancer, including different immunotherapies that can be combined with one another to enhance their effectiveness.
